This 282,500 SF distribution facility is located on 13 acres directly adjacent to NAPA Balkamp’s existing facility. Once construction is complete, the new facility will tie into the existing, creating a larger building to meet increased demand. These tie-ins will be highly coordinated, as they will include several punch-through aisles and pass-throughs of the existing conveyor system. JE Dunn worked extensively with NAPA to ensure ongoing distribution operations will continue undisturbed throughout construction.
The new, tilt-up facility is 54 feet tall and will include a significant amount of new material handling equipment and systems to automate NAPA’s pick-pack-ship modules. Within the existing facility, a new AutoStore robotic storage and retrieval system will be added that will increase processing efficiency. This system requires re-work of approximately 75,000 SF of seven-inch concrete slab to a floor flatness of F100. The new facility will contain a more traditional ASRS system, as well as vertical lift modules, and additional storage.
Upgrades to the sprinkler system across the existing building are also included, along with a new generator and a small customer support area with offices and restrooms. Within the existing facility, JE Dunn will also ensure the roof is sufficiently supported with snow loads.
