KANSAS CITY, MO (March, 2018) – The Associated General Contractors (AGC) recently named JE Dunn Construction the first place winner of its national Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) in the Large Contractor – Building division. Final judging took place at the 99th Annual AGC Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, where winners were announced among roughly 800 attendees on February 27, 2018.
The CSEAs recognize safety programs that demonstrate a comprehensive set of standards, including innovative strategies, effective training opportunities, strong levels of commitment, and active participation – all of which have led to JE Dunn’s progressive safety culture.
“Safety is top of mind in everything we do at JE Dunn,” said Safety Director Eric Zuhlke. “What really sets us apart is the high level of engagement around safety throughout the company – from executive leaders to the outstanding, dedicated people on our jobsites who bring the buildings to life.”
The development, implementation, and measurement of JE Dunn’s safety and loss prevention programs have been pivotal for improving the company’s safety performance. The company recently achieved its lowest ever Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.42 and significantly reduced its Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), which is well below industry average. These numbers are especially impressive considering the thousands of JE Dunn jobsites around the country. The sheer volume of workers shows that a safety mindset is truly engrained in the culture.
“This award honors not only JE Dunn employees, but also the families and friends we go home to each night because of our strong dedication and commitment to safety.”
