Located 17 miles north of downtown Juneau atop a granite bluff, the Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute headquarters the National Marine Fisheries Service's Auke Bay Laboratories.
33,000 square feet of lab space and offices accommodate 99 scientists and staff who will continue dual missions of stock enumeration and habitat assessment. New equipment provides for improved gene sequencing work which helps state and federal fishery managers track migratory species.
An 80-seat meeting room is equipped with state-of-the-art video teleconferencing equipment that connects scientists in Juneau with colleagues throughout the federal system and much of the world.
