University of Minnesota Equine Research Center
St. Paul, Minnesota
The University of Minnesota Equine Research Center's vision is to be a national leader in equine sports medicine and in integrating animal science and veterinary medical programs in a common facility.
Located in St. Paul, Minnesota, the 62,000 SF, pre-engineered steel facility will include a Lameness Research and Clinical Services facility that includes twelve outpatient stalls, lameness diagnostic areas, examination and treatment rooms, radiology research labs, physical therapy, classroom space, a treadmill and surgical areas. Work areas will be provided for faculty and students for the purpose of conducting research and study. There will be 27 resident horse stalls plus the appropriate support facilities for day-to-day research.
A 21,000 SF indoor arena will also be used for lameness research and diagnostics, as well as for training and exercise. The space will also accommodate small-scale events. The arena includes the arena floor, seating, lunge area and public restrooms. An existing storage building will be renovated for a Breeding Program area. This building will also house hay and food storage, and mechanical and electrical rooms.
