135,000 SF addition and renovation including the addition of 42 skybox seating suites, expanded press box and broadcast media facility, indoor premium seating, and food and beverage facilities. In addition, stadium improvements included event management work areas, football coaching booths, Athletic Department booths, and space for various supporting services.
Unique features
- Schedule accommodated fall football games, the Spring Game, several graduation ceremonies and music events
- Prior to the first game of the season, the construction team ran a full-scale ‘game day' simulation studying capacity and crowd movement through existing and temporary passageways
- Construction worked around the football schedule
- Had to allow 77,000 fans access to the existing stadium through the construction area during football season
- 42 high end suites with high quality wood work.
- Special window system that folded out to allow for better site lines of the football field. Window system was one of only a select few at the time.
- New structure was built around the existing pressbox. The pressbox had to be accessible during a football season. We had to have 2 new elevators in the new building operational 8 months following the start of construction to allow access to the existing pressbox. Following the football season, the pressbox was removed through a 20 foot by 15 foot opening in the new structure.
- Concourse level had a ceiling height of 60 feet with drywall soffits and ceiling tile.
- Accelerated schedule, job was completed in 18 months
- Work included a new concourse, club level, 2 suite levels, pressbox and film booth on the roof encompassing 135,000 square feet
- The new building structure is independant of the existing structure
- The peak of the roof is 135 feet above the street level
