Beaverton City Library
Beaverton, Oregon
69,000 SF building with two stories and a basement and two blocks of parking. The library's design integrates concrete, block, precast concrete and wood with demanding tolerances. The second floor has a number of clear, vertical grain glulam beams that make it look like trees are holding up the ceilings. There are also many skylights.
Unique features:
- The latest in electronic networking capabilities, an auditorium, public meeting rooms, a large children's area and lots of light-filled open spaces for reading.
- Construction completed in just 13 months.
