27,682 SF renovation of historic building. With new electrical, water and sanitary service, this building has been completely updated to today's standards. The design was fully coordinated with the historical standards of local and federal authorities, yet provided the owner with the desired design and function.
The exterior was a complete restoration including the removal of nearly seven layers of paint and mortar patches. All of the limestone and sandstone banding and sills have been 100% replaced, and some brick repair was also required.
Unique features
- A bell tower was rebuilt from the original 1885 design, developed from a photograph, including Building was originally built in 1885 with an addition added in 1887. Oldest freestanding school building in Kansas City, Missouri
- Renovation included the construction of an art and antique gallery, banquet rooms, and two kitchens for dining and catering
- Use of mockups of moldings and trim, finishes and masonry restoration samples
- Stained glass restoration
- Received Preservation Award from Jackson County Historical Society on November 1, 2002
