Portland City Hall Renovation

Portland, Oregon

The Portland City Hall Renovation brings the 82,000 SF, 100+ year old building up to current seismic and fire codes. The renovation of Portland's City Hall was guided by three goals:

  • upgrade the building to current seismic standards
  • restore the building's historic features
  • create a modern, functional office environment.

Unique features:

  • Today, the exterior looks just as it did in the late 1800s, but the interior received a complete functional makeover — light courts were restored, council chambers now feature a balcony, office workspaces sport modern accouterments, and the structure rests on a seismically stable structural core.

Project Highlights:

  • 1999 -Granted by the BOMA Northwest Region, 1999 TOBY Award for "Office Building of the Year".
  • 1999 -Awarded by the Oregon Downtown Development Association the "1999 Oregon Downtown Achievement Awarded in the Physical Improvement: Public Rehab Category."
