Johnson County Community College Parking Structure
Overland Park, Kansas
Johnson County Community College's new parking garage features four tiers and 1,200 spaces, with easy way finding and access from all major campus entries. The structure is designed to blend into the academic campus and reinforce and complete the existing campus circulation axes by integrating heavy pedestrian traffic seamlessly into the campus network. All systems and details meet the client's 100-year life expectancy as mandated in the performance specification. The uniqueness of the project is exemplified by extending the campus's art program into the design of the garage -stair wells, courtyards, exterior walls, interior graphics and exterior signage are some areas of the design in which collaborations with artists have been proposed.
