Colorado State University at Pueblo

Pueblo, Colorado

JE Dunn was selected for the renovation of two buildings for CSU - Pueblo, formerly the University of Southern Colorado. The Physics/Math project is a 2-story building totaling 32,600 SF and is constructed of precast and cast-in-place concrete. The Life Sciences project is a 3-story building totaling 61,950 SF and is constructed of precast concrete.

The Life Sciences building will house biology and nursing labs, greenhouse, and a tiered auditorium with advanced electronics. The Physics/Math building will house physics labs and also includes a tiered lecture hall with advanced electronics for remote teaching and broadcasting.

Unique Features:

  • Project completed while the campus remained fully operational. JE Dunn minimized disruption to on-going campus activities by open communication/coordination with Campus staff.
  • During construction it was determined that the 40-year old buildings were settling due to an unidentified underground river running below the project. At the Owner's request, we were asked to jack up the buildings and install underground drains to direct the water away from the building's foundation.
  • The renovations called for all new electrical, mechanical and plumbing services, as well as new flooring, ceilings and partitions.
