Mercy Medical Center West Lakes Hospital

Teamed with a local contractor, JE Dunn is providing construction management and general contractor services for the new Mercy West Lakes Hospital located in West Des Moines, Iowa.
The 310,991 SF, 7-story, 82-bed hospital is being constructed with a steel structure and a brick and curtainwall exterior and includes administration, cafeteria and kitchen, surgery suites, imaging, emergency department, laboratory, LDRP suites, and patient wings. A 161,330 SF, 2-level, 440-space precast parking structure and freestanding energy center will also be located on the site.
This project is pursuing LEED certification. Additionally, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is being used for MEP coordination. Through BIM utilization, entire floors are being coordinated in 4 – 5 weeks, a tremendous improvement over traditional coordination. When coordinating the 2nd floor, the project team was able to resolve all of the collision points with only a single RFP to the design team. Considering the complex and extensive mechanical systems present in a hospital project, the productivity improvement for all project teams members has been dramatic.
