Dallas County Community College District - Brookhaven Campus Science Building
Dallas, Texas
This $37 million project is a new, ground-up 154,000 SF, 3-story building. This new facility will house the Nursing, Allied Health, Chemistry and Biology Programs for the college. The Health Program includes emergency medical services and radiology nursing programs. The space includes laboratories (Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Nursing), prep areas, storage spaces, faculty offices and support spaces. It also includes smart classrooms, self-contained media classrooms with the following equipment: a screen, a projector, and a lectern with a computer, DVD/CD player, VHS player, sound system, and a touch screen flat panel with Smart Notebook software. The software enables faculty to interact with what is displayed on the computer screen and thus actively engage students in presentations. Faculty can navigate through applications by touching a sympodium pen to the monitor, write or annotate what is on the computer screen, and capture and save these annotations in PDF for uploading to their course sites.
