The Maria Luna Food Service Facility in Dallas houses administrative offices for the Food and Child Nutrition Services Department, a central food services warehouse, a freezer/refrigerator area with a 5,400 pallet rack system, bakery, production kitchen, packaging area, an auditorium and a training kitchen.
The facility prepares and ships 220,000 school meals per day, feeding every child in the Dallas Independent School District. It also serves as a back-up kitchen to other schools in the district. The kitchens were designed with the flexibility to accommodate the production of different types of foods and quantities allowing the facility to be used in the event of a civic emergency.
JE Dunn Construction produced complete preconstruction and cosntruction services for the District.
