IRS Processing Center
Kansas City, MO
Client: Pershing Road Development Company
Architect: BNIM, 360 Architects
Size: 620,000 SF
Completion: 2006

The IRS Processing Center consists of three processing center wings. A multi-level warehouse adjoins the processing wings for storage.  Renovation of an existing, adjacent building provides training and administration space and a new 4-story parking garage that accommodates 1,500 vehicles.

The IRS Processing Center incorporated a number of sustainable elements including rainwater collection for irrigation and abundant use of natural light, exterior sunshades and fritted glass for reduced heat gain. Use of locally manufactured materials, recycled materials and certified sustainable wood along with significant construction waste recycling supported the Center's achievement of LEED Certification.
