Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's African Rift Valley was a multi-phased project to house the zoo's giraffe herd and increase their hoof-stock exhibits. It includes a water feature in the warthog area, a baobab 'tree', holding building, view shelters, and new entry plaza.
A focal point outside of the new giraffe and hoof-stock building, the ancient man made baobab tree provides fun interactive activities.
A boardwalk along the entire exhibit allows for optimum viewing. Each structure in the new exhibit space is designed for convenience and comfort. Walking paths are gentle slopes of 5% grade or less for ease of getting around in America's only mountain zoo.
