Client: Corrections Corporation of America
Architect: DLR Group
Size: 594,000 SF
Completion: 2008

La Palma is a medium security prison broken into three compounds.  There are a total of 20 buildings on an 89-acre site.  A total of 3,060 beds were delivered three months ahead of schedule.

Phase One, consisting of 1,080 beds, was completed one week ahead of schedule. Phase 1B of the project included all support buildings and was completed one week early in August of 2008. Phase Two, consisting of 1,080 beds, was completed two months early. Phase Three, consisting of the final 1,080 beds, was completed two months ahead of schedule in December 2008. The project finished three months ahead of its target completion date of March 2009.

At the time of its completion, La Palma was the largest project undertaken by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA).

"This is the best managed project that I personally have seen in my 25 years of experience. This size, fast track and phasing combination has made this project difficult, but was handled in an organized and professional manner that is unparalleled."
