MD Anderson, South Campus Vivarium
Houston, TX
Client: University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Architect: Page Southerland Page
Size: 65,000 SF
Completion: 2008

The South Campus Vivarium involved the 65,000 SF renovation of an existing warehouse building into an animal research facility with four housing and procedure suites to contain 60,000 mice.  The project also included a cagewash area.  Additionally, a new 2-story mechanical addition and second level intersitial space was included.

Complex mechanical systems and laboratory equipment was installed.  To ensure quality, close coordination with MEP subcontractors were held prior to installation.  During commissioning, MEP subcontractors, the engineer, owner and test and balance agents attended twice-weekly meetings to stay in close communication regarding design issues and punchlist items.
