Medical Center of the Rockies

Architect: Heery International
Size: 558,000 SF
Completion: 2007
The hospital features state-of-the-art technology including robotic-assisted surgical arms, electronic health records system, and advanced in-room telecommunications.
A project specific "Green Team" made up of representatives from the design, owner and contractor teams was assembled to monitor and track sustainable building efforts. As a result of the team's diligent efforts to create a healthy and healing environment, Medical Center of the Rockies, originally planning to seek LEED Silver certification, received LEED Gold certification becoming the first LEED Gold certified hospital in the state of Colorado. A particularly successful element of the sustainable efforts was the diversion of 6,200 tons of construction debris from landfill.
This project was completed through a fast-track design and construction process which allowed for the project to be completed nearly one year earlier than a traditional approach would have allowed. Implementation of JE Dunn's healthcare-specific safety program, "We Care", aided in over 500,000 manhours worked without a lost time accident.
