Lone Butte Casino features upscale restaurants and water features, four unique tensile shade structures and state-of-the-art security. Areas for table games and slot machines, a high-limit area and bingo hall round out the gaming area. The facility also includes a cafe and bar/lounge. Back-of-house areas include casino support and administrative space.
Lone Butte was completed on a fast-track schedule. The design-build team worked closely together to ensure that the schedule and budget were met. Value engineering was used by the design-build team to identify and select features that would provide the highest quality most economically and efficiently. Although Lone Butte was not intended for LEED certification, a number of sustainable elements were incorporated. These include use of indigenous plantings, use of high efficiency HVAC, water conservation and a below-floor air distribution system to aid with smoke removal.
Building information modeling (BIM) was used to plan project sequencing and logistics as well as to identify constructabiity issues and pinch points. 2-dimensional details were transferred to 3D, in effect giving the design-build team the opportunity to virutually build the project before it was actually constructed.
A project-specific safety program was implemented with mandatory training and regular meetings. The DB02 Safety Net Palm Pilot system was used for the documentation of all formal safety audits. The system simplified the collection, analysis and distribution of worksite safety information providing real-time feedback to supervision on safety hazards. Over the course of the project (12 months or 589,821 hours), no lost time or recordable incidents occurred.
