The Texas Center for Infectious Disease hospital is a 75-bed facility providing care for tuberculosis and Hensen's Disease patients for the Texas Department of State Health Services in San Antonio. All inpatient rooms are airborne infectious isolation rooms.  The facility is the largest of its type built in the United States in over 50 years.  The facility also houses the Heartland National TB Center, a tuberculosis regional training and medical consultation center funded by the CDC.

An outstanding article fully describing the unique design and construction aspects of this hospital can be found by clicking here.  The article, coauthored by Chuck Lipscomb of JE Dunn's Austin office and O'Connell Robertson's Cathy Brandewie, was published in the March/April 2011 issue of Medical Construction & Design magazine.
