Designed by Steven Holl, Lacayo's comments on the Block addition included, "Adding a new wing to a neoclassical museum, Holl devised a spectacular update on classicism: an irregular series of volumes that cascade down the museum's lawn and glow from within. The effect against the nighttime sky is nothing short of magical".
JE Dunn completed construction on the 542,114 SF multi-phased expansion over a 6-year period. The expansion included the Bloch Building, its gallery space, studios and classrooms; and a 2-level, below-grade, 457-car parking structure complete with a sculptural reflecting pool located above the garage. » Back to Press and News Archive |
