It's Not New, It's Just Better - Dunn Project Solutions (DPS)

Indeed, when you think about recent construction in Kansas City, JE Dunn typically comes to mind. The newly completed Bloch Building at the Nelson Atkins Museum, the under-construction Kauffmann Center for the Performing Arts, the nearly complete Federal Reserve Bank, and of course The Power and Light entertainment district are representative of the construction boom Kansas City is experiencing. "People are surprised when we tell them that 60% of our business comes from projects under $5 million in size. In terms of the big projects currently underway in Kansas City, many of our projects might seem small. But in our eyes, they are no less important", said Steve Swanson, Senior Project Manager with Dunn Project Solutions.

Consider Dunn Project Solutions, a division comprised of staff exclusively dedicated to the execution of projects that clients don't always associate with JE Dunn Construction.

"Dunn Project Solutions was developed as an arm of our strategic growth initiative. We recognized a market that had construction needs and requirements necessitating a unique solution beyond the usual general contractor arrangement," Swanson explained.

"Among contractors, this type of work is intensely competitive. To compete successfully, a contractor must be responsive, competitively priced, and able to deliver the project on schedule, at or under budget, to the complete satisfaction of the client. We take it one step further by performing with a hands-on and personal approach. It sounds fundamental, but this market presents unique challenges."

To address those challenges, JE Dunn Construction carefully and deliberately structured Dunn Project Solutions. For example, the division office and field staff are dedicated to smaller projects making them flexible and focused. Paperwork and contracting processes have been streamlined as well.
