JE Dunn Construction Completes New Construction at University of New Mexico Children's Hospital

DENVER - JE Dunn Construction, a commercial general contractor headquartered in Denver, in a joint venture with Jaynes Corporation of New Mexico, recently completed the new construction portion of the University of New Mexico Children's Hospital project.

The new Barbara and Bill Richardson pavilion is a six-story, 490,270-square-foot hospital that houses the neonatal intensive care unit, children's emergency department, adult emergency department, urgent care and trauma, adult critical care, women's birthing center, postpartum service, and well baby nursery. Support services include a pharmacy, gift shop, medication room, food court, and respiratory therapy.

Designed by Design Collaborative Southwest Architects, the new hospital focuses on the patient environment while incorporating multi-cultural themes to reflect the diversity of the surrounding community. The project focus now shifts to the raising and renovation of two critical care buildings and the creation of a walking garden and orchard, all currently underway.

"We are excited to see the building in action and serving the community," said John Gottsch, senior project manager for JE Dunn. "We look forward to delivering the final project to the community." The renovation is scheduled for completion November 2007.

JE Dunn is currently the fifth largest health care builder in the nation as ranked by Engineering News Record. JE Dunn's recent hospital projects include Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo.; Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colo.; St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Neb.; and Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs.
