Duffle Bag Classic Nets $33,000 for At-Risk Students

This year, the Orange Duffel Bag Initiative tournament, conducted for foster care and homeless teens, raised $33,000, increasing funds raised last year by 100 percent.

On Aug. 25, the organization presented its second annual golf tournament fundraiser. The event took place at Indian Hills Country Club in Marietta followed by an awards ceremony, lunch and silent auction. Proceeds will support Orange Duffle Bag’s work and youth programs, which have improved the lives of hundreds of at-risk students since its founding in 2010. Major sponsors for the event included JE Dunn Construction, Cornerstone Masonry, Xerox, POS World and Civil Site Services Inc. all of whom challenge other corporate leaders in the community to get involved with the issues and donate to the cause.

Reggie Pope, JE Dunn regional risk manager, has served as tournament coordinator for both years and assisted in the fundraising that allowed the organization to double the money raised by 100 percent from last year’s tournament.
