The Minority Contractor Business Development Program (MCBD Program) was launched in 2005. This program consists of MBE and WBE contractor companies selected through an application and interview process. Selection criteria includes industry experience, size of company, and current conditions. The purpose of this program is to build business development skills so that the M/WBE contractors can compete with non-minority contractors in the competitive construction industry. During the two-year program, which is held in Kansas City, Missouri, participants attend classes facilitated by JE Dunn on a monthly basis providing them with a full curriculum of topics ranging from estimating to policies and procedures. It is also the goal of the program to provide these companies with the tools to participate on JE Dunn projects. Additionally, participants are paired with an experienced mentor to offer further support and resources outside of the classroom. The MCBD Program is free of charge to selected M/WBE companies. At this time, the program is open to MBE/WBE companies within the metropolitan Kansas City area. |
